Forest Studies

Reforestation studies

The purpose of reforestation studies is the comprehensive and effective afforestation of an area, which will result in both the promotion of a forest area and the upgrading of the quality of life of citizens, always maintaining the balance in the environment-human relationship. The contribution of artificial forest stands is undeniable both in soil retention, flood protection and the enrichment of the composition of the biocommunity, with the ultimate goal of ecological restoration of the area. “Multipurpose forestry”, which has been practiced in recent years, must coexist with the “sustainable development” of an area, taking into account the protection of forests, soils, the aquifer along with recreation and harvest.

Forest management studies

The Forest Code (N.D. 86/69) stipulates that the management of forests must be done on the basis of forestry studies and in article 63.1 the categories of studies for this purpose are provided.

Forest management studies are the main source of information on the characteristics of the forest ecosystems of our country. Both the medium and long-term management planning of public and non-public forests is based on these studies. Planning is necessary in the management of forest ecosystems, as, on the one hand, the implementation of management goals and objectives in forest ecosystems takes time, and on the other hand, the impact on the ecosystem and the landscape from the management decisions that will be made will be long lasting. The design gives the general guidelines of the management, according to the aims and objectives set during its formation, the forestry species, the management and forestry form, the social and economic environment of the area as well as the forecast for the future development of the these parameters always guided by the sustainable management of forest ecosystems.

Torrential forestry studies

The forest technical arrangement of the torrents and the relevant studies aim at the technical works and horticultural works, in combination, with the appropriate measures for the proper management and exploitation of their basins, the fixing of their unstable sloping soils, as hotbeds of production. (erosions, slips, precipitations) and at the same time the establishment and maintenance of the hydromagnetic vegetation in them in order to mitigate the water-stereo supplies and the simultaneous protection of the under-affected developmental development projects (soil, sedimentary, sedimentary, sedimentary).

Forest road studies

In order to exploit and develop a forest area, infrastructure projects are constructed – forest technical projects. The term technical works includes the forest road as the main technical work and the road technical works integrated or adjacent to it.

The forest road is a relatively narrow surface strip of land technically designed in such a way as to ensure, according to the technical specifications, the smallest possible impact on the environment. The side road projects have mainly a functional and protective character and compose together with the deck the overall image of the forest road. Such projects are the technical projects of slope protection, water drainage along the forest road, the technical projects of water drainage across the forest road as well as the phytotechnical projects for the restoration of disturbed surfaces, etc.

For the preparation of forest road studies, the instructions of no. 126386/1730 / 10-6-66, 41287/2281/55 / 22-5-73 & 92833/4679 / 1-12-97 of circulars of Y.G. “On the elaboration of studies of forest transport installations”.

Forest recreation studies

The purpose of the Forest Recreation studies is:

  • The promotion of the spatial and natural elements of the forest making it of special aesthetic value and the support of the local sustainable development by offering immediately, variety and quality of leisure activities ensuring the physical and mental health of the visitor.
  • The preservation of the valuable ecological values of the forest and the preservation of the environmental balance of this ecosystem.
  • Satisfaction of environmental education needs of modern man where through the implementation of appropriate projects that will provide facilities for education and training (environmental paths) it is possible to develop the forest into an excellent outdoor school of environmental education and knowledge.

The forest recreation studies are prepared according to Υ.Α 66102/970 / 23-2-1995 (Government Gazette 170 / 14-3-1995 / Τ.Β) on “Regulation of issues concerning the creation of living and outdoor recreation areas in the forests and the forest areas of Chora ”and the technical specifications with number 169694/6997 / 17-10-1983 of the order of the Ministry of Agriculture concerning“ Instructions for the preparation of studies for the management of protected natural areas and outdoor recreation areas ”

Fire protection studies

Fire protection studies concern the protection and fire protection of a forest area in order to take measures and construct fire protection projects. The purpose of a modern fire protection plan is the targeted analysis of the problem of forest fires in a specific area and then the planning of appropriate actions, actions and projects that will lead (immediately and in the medium term) to better protection of forests in general, and consequently to shield from the risk of fire of settlements, buildings, industrial and other facilities and agricultural holdings located in or near them.

Pasture management studies

The mountain pasture management study or the Grazing Management Plan is the preparation of a comprehensive program for the management of grazed areas with the main axes of the rational grazing of animals and the organization of pastures by pasture units.

The use of grazing within the areas protected by forest legislation is free, as long as it does not adversely affect the natural balance and sustainability, as well as the productive, protective, hydrological, aesthetic and other functions of the ecosystems formed by the vegetation growing in the above areas. the protection and management of which is governed by the provisions in force for each category of the above areas.

Grazing within the above areas, in which it has not been prohibited in accordance with the provisions of current legislation, is exercised on the basis of a management plan for grazing the area. The management plans regulate the conditions of use of these areas for grazing according to the existing and the resulting, compatible with the grazing, parallel uses, as well as the grazing capacity of each area and ensures the sustainable management of the grazing lands to serve the intended use. , without hindering the use of grazing.
